# Read your company profile

Check the researched positioning, market story, differentiators, and dated company updates behind your workspace.

## At a glance

  1. 1. **Open Profile**: Go to Facts → Profile and confirm the company identity and research date.
  2. 2. **Read the story**: Check positioning, market narrative, and differentiators against your current offering.
  3. 3. **Check updates**: Review dated launches and other company events before using them as evidence.

Open [Facts → Profile](https://app.knitknot.ai/facts/profile) to read the company context KnitKnot has researched for your workspace. Start with the company name, category, website, and **Refreshed** date. The date tells you when the research was last updated; it does not certify that every statement is still current.

## Check how the company is described

Read **Positioning** as the buyer-facing description of who the company serves and how it competes. **Market narrative** gives the wider category context. The short differentiator labels highlight claims worth checking against the products and evidence in the [Fact Ledger](/docs/review-and-approve-facts/).

For example, if the profile says your product serves large teams but your current plan only supports small workspaces, open the product record and its source before using that positioning in a benchmark brief. A broad profile description is not a substitute for a current, checkable fact.

## Read company updates

The **Company updates** section lists recorded funding, launches, acquisitions, and partnerships with dates when known. **Date unknown** means the record has no reliable date. Check the underlying fact and source before treating an update as recent. If updates cannot load, the page says some may be missing; an empty section otherwise says no major updates are recorded yet.

If research is still running, wait for the status banner to finish. If it fails, use the banner's retry action. A workspace without a completed company record shows **No company profile yet**; complete company research during setup before expecting this view.

To decide whether a newly observed competitor, capability, or claim belongs in the record, use [Facts → Discoveries](/docs/review-discoveries/). To add and approve a specific statement, use the [Fact Ledger guide](/docs/review-and-approve-facts/).
