# Review discovered candidates

Check new competitors, capabilities, themes, buyer roles, dimensions, and facts before adding them to your company record.

## At a glance

  1. 1. **Filter the queue**: Open Facts → Discoveries and narrow the list by type or name.
  2. 2. **Read the evidence**: Open a candidate and inspect its answers, cited sources, or fact observations.
  3. 3. **Make a decision**: Add an entity to the roster, approve a fact, or dismiss the proposal.

Open [Facts → Discoveries](https://app.knitknot.ai/facts/discoveries) when KnitKnot finds a possible addition to your company record. The queue combines two kinds of proposal: **entities** such as competitors and capabilities, and **facts** such as a claim about a product or plan. Pending discoveries do not guide measurement or analysis until they are reviewed into the company profile.

## Find a candidate

Search by name or statement, or choose a **Type** tile or column filter. The queue can contain competitors, capabilities, themes, comparison dimensions, buyer roles, and facts. **Sources** counts distinct source domains. Where present, **Answers** counts AI answers that surfaced an entity; **Mentions** counts occurrences of a theme in the source corpus. These two columns have different units and should not be compared as one score.

Open the row that matters. A competitor or other entity can show the captured answers and cited sources that led to the suggestion. Follow an answer to read the buyer question and full response; follow a source to check what the page actually says. Some candidates have no linked evidence yet. A suggested name alone is not enough to add a competitor or claim a capability.

A **Fact** row opens a different detail page. Read its exact statement, category, provenance, date, and **Supporting observations**. Search the observations or filter them by source. A research proposal can have no independent observation; that empty state does not establish whether the statement is true. Verify time-sensitive facts against a current source before approving them.

## Decide what enters the record

For an entity, choose **Add to roster** on its detail page, or **Accept candidate** from the row menu. For a fact, choose **Approve fact**. The fact approval confirmation explains that approval creates an approved Fact, can supersede the current Fact with the same key, and does not itself add a new item to future benchmarks. Read that consequence before confirming.

Choose **Dismiss** when the suggestion is irrelevant, duplicated, or unsupported. Dismissed fact proposals remain visible under **Discarded facts** so the harvester does not simply propose them again. This section is read-only.

The list also has **Select**, **Accept selected**, **Dismiss selected**, and **Accept all**. **Accept all** applies to the rows currently matching your search and Type filter; it can include facts and entities together. Open the individual records first when the statements or roster changes need separate checks. After adding a competitor, review its fit and subject in [Manage competitors](/docs/manage-competitors/). After approving a fact, inspect its current record in the [Fact Ledger](/docs/review-and-approve-facts/).
