Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
1. What we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and company name when you sign up or join the waitlist.
- Usage data: pages you visit on knitknot.ai, features you use in the app, and benchmark results associated with your account.
- Analytics data: we use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns. This includes anonymized IP addresses, browser type, and referring pages.
2. How we use it
- To provide and improve the KnitKnot service.
- To run benchmarks on your behalf and deliver results.
- To communicate product updates, changelogs, and support responses.
- To analyze aggregate usage trends and improve the product.
3. What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share your benchmark results with other companies.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
4. Third-party services
We use the following services that may collect information:
- Google Analytics — website traffic analytics.
- Cloudflare — CDN, security, and performance.
- AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity) — to run the benchmarks you request. Prompts include your company and competitor names; responses are stored in your account.
5. Cookies
Our website uses analytics cookies (via Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. We use Google Consent Mode: analytics cookies are stored only if you accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics cookies are stored on your device — we may still receive anonymous, aggregated measurement data that does not identify you. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies/local storage in your browser, which brings the banner back. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Connecting your Google Analytics account
If you choose to connect your Google Analytics 4 property, KnitKnot uses Google OAuth to obtain read-only access (the analytics.readonly scope). We access only:
- Your GA4 account and property names, so you can choose which property to track.
- A daily, aggregated report of sessions referred to your site from AI assistants (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude), broken down by source and landing page. Google returns aggregate counts only — no individual visitor identities or personal data.
We use this data solely to display your AI-referred traffic inside your own KnitKnot dashboard, alongside your AI Presence Score. Your Google access token is stored encrypted at rest and used only to run the daily sync; the resulting daily aggregates are stored in our database. You can disconnect at any time in Settings → Integrations, which revokes our access and deletes the stored token. Email support@knitknot.ai to request deletion of collected traffic history.
KnitKnot's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google Analytics data to serve advertisements, do not sell it, do not transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide the KnitKnot service (and never for advertising), do not use it to train generalized or AI models, and limit human access except with your consent, for security or compliance, or as required by law.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Benchmark results are retained for the life of your account. You can request deletion at any time.
8. Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Opt out of marketing communications.
- Export your benchmark data.
