# Schema markup for agent-ready pages

> Structured data can make a page's entities and fields explicit. It should mirror visible, approved content and should never be sold as a citation or ranking contract.

## What does schema markup do?

Schema markup gives machines an explicit description of entities and fields already visible on a page. It can identify an organization, product, article, breadcrumb trail, or other supported page type.

The markup should mirror the human page. It is not a hidden place to add claims, prices, dates, or features that a person cannot verify on the page.

## Which schema type should a page use?

Use the most specific supported type that matches the visible content. An organization page can describe the company. A product page can describe a real product and its visible offer information. An article can identify its headline, author, and dates. Breadcrumb markup can describe the visible hierarchy.

Only use FAQ markup when the page visibly contains the questions and answers and the current search guidelines allow that use. Markup requirements change, so check the relevant primary documentation before deployment.

## What belongs in the publishing review?

- Every structured claim matches visible, approved content.
- Mutable fields point to the same fact ledger as the page.
- Dates describe real publication or update events.
- Removed or revoked claims disappear from both the page and markup.
- The rendered output is valid and does not expose private data.

## Does schema make an AI answer change?

Schema can make a page easier to parse. It does not prove that a provider fetched the page, used the markup at inference, cited the page, or changed an answer.

Measure the content cycle separately. Preserve the benchmark before publication, record the version and receipts, and inspect later journey-level movement after the reporting window opens.
